Born in 1954 and raised on Southern California horse ranches, John DeMott specializes in recreating the spirit of the great American Frontier. Indians, cowboys, mountain men, and wildlife are all subjects that find their way into John's canvases. John has lived and worked the experiences of his subjects. His paintings recreate a sense of place and time that is the result of hours of research and study of his subjects, their tools, wardrobe, accoutrements and history. He takes great pride in the accuracy of his work, and he studies his subjects in person whenever possible. He notes, “As a storyteller of the American frontier, western art has been an important part of my life and I am proud to be involved in the preservation of our great heritage.” John, his wife Cindy, and their family own and operate a ranch near Loveland, Colorado. Inside his studio, he displays a collection of art, wildlife mounts, American Indian wardrobes and many other artifacts from the American frontier. John has surrounded himself with those things he loves, and has created a wonderful space in which to create his work – passing along to the viewer a true feeling of the West. |
