Rebecca Korth's Biography

I’ve been expressing myself through art for as long as I can remember.By the time I reached high school I took as many art classes as possible. My college years were spent studying a little bit of everything, but painting always stayed with me. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, I decided to travel to Oregon to study art with my aunt, Sandee Burman. I moved back to Wisconsin in 2005 & have been continually learning new techniques & theories ever since. In August of 2011 I got married & changed my signature to Rebecca Korth after seven years of signing Rebecca Nycz! I'm considered a realism artist since my approach to a subject matter is to portray it in a realistic way. I will never take a painting to the point of photorealism. I love the charm of a well composed painting when it actually looks like a painting and not a photograph. The subject alone is never my first concern when it comes to choosing what I'm going to paint. What's most important to me is that the composition should evoke an emotional response, and it embodies all the aspects of great design. However, this is still not enough for me—as I find doing the same type of painting over and over again to be very boring and laborious —it is for this reason I like to constantly explore all of my options. It is these options which bring forth a great deal of variety to how and what I might paint. Variety is the very thing that keeps me emotionally alive as a painter. Painting is not just my livelihood...it is my passion.
